Greenhouse Gases
Climate Edge tracks all greenhouse gases as defined by the GHG Protocol, measured in carbon dioxide equivalents (CO₂e). It includes emissions from carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆), and nitrogen trifluoride (NF₃), ensuring full compliance with global emissions standards.
Biogenic CO₂ Emissions
Biogenic CO₂ emissions, originating from natural sources such as biomass, are not included in the carbon calculations provided by Climate Edge. The platform is designed to focus on emissions from anthropogenic activities, as outlined by the GHG Protocol.
Consolidation Approach
Climate Edge utilizes the "Operational Control Approach" to manage emissions reporting. By assigning greenhouse gas emissions to the entities that have direct operational control over the relevant facilities, it ensures precise and consistent reporting in line with recognized standards.
Location-based Approach
Climate Edge uses a location-based approach for calculating Scope 2 emissions from purchased electricity. This method incorporates country-specific emission factors issued by national grid companies, reflecting the average carbon intensity of electricity consumed in each country. This ensures an accurate and regionally relevant assessment of your indirect emissions impact.
